The Gold Coaster review by Richard

The demise of Arrow Dynamics can be put down to their failure to innovate. Big Dipper turned Cyclone turned Hot Wheels Sidewinder is a perfect example of why this company ultimately disappeared into bankruptcy. A rough uninspiring layout is met with some of the most nonsensical and overthought-yet-underdone theming you'll ever encounter on a ride. Why Mattel signed off on the use of the Hot Wheels branding on this disastrous ride is anyone's guess.
Review Criteria
Enjoyment
Effectiveness
Intensity
There's no real moments of excitement or intensity. Just a few gentle drops, meandering turns and two poorly executed inversions at the climax of the ride.Rider Comfort
The addition of a new train in 2015 made negligible improvements to a ride where the roughness is largely a result of poorly designed track.Pacing
Theming/Storyline
Haphazardly placed Hot Wheels logos and model cars combined with the pointless on-board soundtrack of the 1999 song Freestyler by Bomfunk MC apparently constitutes a theme.Upkeep/Presentation
Track is faded, rusted and splattered in grease. New theming added in 2015 barely masks the cheapness of its original 2001 theme as Cyclone.Queue/Efficiency
It would be hard to run a roller coaster like this at a lower hourly capacity.More Reviews
