The launch is very similar in concept to the way the catapult works on an aircraft carrier. Basically, hydraulic fluid is pressurised in a system of accumulator tanks. When the ride launches the fluid is released rapidly into a turbine. The turbine spins, winding in the cable, and pulling the train down the launch rapidly.

Though to be fair the cinema did get some much-needed love and attention, which is always a good thing. We're expecting the Dreamworld paddle steamer to be converted into a riverboat casino in the near future. It'll be a financial disaster, but at least it might get a lick of paint.
