The Parkz Update: Wet'n'Wild Water World, May 2010

Wet'n'Wild Water World has commenced construction on their four looping water slides that are due to open later this year. In addition to this major attraction there are a number of smaller things happening at Australia's most popular water park.

Wet 'n' Wild's improved entrance, about three times the width of the old one, and all undercover.

A-frames are a useful way of conveying useful information to park guests. In this case it appears Wet'n'Wild have the entire Lord of the Rings screenplay on display.

But this is what we came to see; work is underway on the yet-to-be-named set of looping water slides.

Speedcoaster has been removed to make way.

As has Twister.

With the old slide structure gone, the Wave Pool remains the only attraction from when the park began as Cade's County in the 1980s.

It should be a pretty impressive sight from one of the busiest roads in Australia.

Wet'n'Wild is now home to a strength tester now...

They've also put in a pirate photo booth...

Terror Canyon was pretty dry, but we did spot a few guys on-site, probably planning the 100m tall hyper-coaster that will be replacing Terror Canyon.

Bad luck if you wanted your day at Wet'n'Wild to include a battle with hypothermia: Calypso Beach is closed for the winter.

Surfrider has gone the way of Wipeout, and is now water free.

Kamikaze now has an onride photo. Now you too can take home the memory of suffering 3 simultaneous heart attacks.

When the Extreme H20 Zone first opened it drew some criticism for being quite sparse, but look at it now

All water parks should look like this.

It's a good idea to feature the Kombi van in the park, but maybe it should be near the entrance so people can get photos with it easier?

Thanks to the water slide circle of life I'm sure we'll see Speed Coaster resurrected elsewhere down the track.

Whirlpool Springs closed until further notice
Calypso Beach closed through 29 August.
