The Parkz Update: Doomsday Destroyer finishing touches

Despite its October opening being a month away, Doomsday Destroyer and DC Super-Villains Unleashed are looking very complete. The area is just awaiting themed elements to turn the DC-inspired street into a city run amok with villains and mayhem.

Harnessing the awesome power of the Parkz Community, we present the latest from Warner Bros. Movie World, courtesy of our diligent members.

The city facades are blended into the existing Scooby-Doo ride building.

The eyes on the ground prior to installation.

As opening date nears, final theming elements are installed on the ride.

The menacing 'Doomsday' eyes dominate the area.

Finishing touches are put on the brick building at the front of the area while ground preparation starts for paving.

The gates are back in place.

The rough edges and seeming sloppily installed brickwork has been an element of contention in the Parkz community.

However these concerns about the quality of the faux brickwork are being resolved with the finer details being worked on.

There's not been a new attraction at an Australian theme park in recent years that has looked so close to completion this far ahead of opening. Doomsday Destroyer still isn't due open until early October.

The bright, open comic book inspired area definitely echoes Islands of Adventures' 'Super Hero Island' in Orlando, albeit on a smaller scale.

Riders will enter from the far end of the precinct, with queue switchbacks seen under the "...Destroyer" signage.

The area is really coming to life. The tanker truck didn't quite fit under its awning... classic Super-Villain stitch-up.

It's likely water-based mist will be pumped from nozzles found around the ring, as shown in the ride teaser footage. CO2 has been speculated, though it would be a costly method for creating this effect.

Access hatch that allows the installation,connection and maintenance of the ride's special effects.

These joints will be covered to match the rest of the ring.

The dangling hoses for the effects can be seen awaiting connection.

The ring definitely completes the ride's look.

Work doesn't stop for weekends. There have been reports of filming of a TVC on site in recent days.

New custom hoardings appear as the hype amplifies.

These custom banners are likely versions of print and billboard ads that have only recently been approved by DC Comics in the USA, which would explain why they have only been put to use at Movie World just now.

A sun-safe painter busy at work. In addition to protecting himself from the harsh Australian sun, we also don't need to blur his face, so kudos to him!

It's really quite amazing just how much detail work continues to happen. In Australia we're used to rides being rushed to completion and frequently opening under the guise of "technical rehearsals" or with hyped themed elements or effects simply missing altogether.

New perimeter fence

With a new roller coaster, Topgolf and a whole host of new attractions and entertainment options coming to the Oxenford site, new permanent fencing is being installed.

Fencing materials lie along the road into Movie World.

The materials will see much of this stretch of land enclosed with a new permanent fence.

Survey pegs are spread throughout the grassy area at the front of Movie World.

Such pegs would be used for correctly placing footings while also avoiding existing infrastructure such as electrical conduits and water/sewage plumbing.

The early stages of groundwork are underway.

A few of the iconic palm trees that lined the road into Movie World have disappeared after 25 years, clearing a long, narrow space between Green Lantern Coaster and the large expanse of pegs at the front edge of Movie World.

Superman Escape repainting

Superman Escape is being repainted by hand. Ever have to paint anything moderately finicky at home like a lattice or pagola? Imagine 760 meters of it...

The long overdue coat of paint is returning the ride to its correct Superman colours.

Salmon-Pink Escape is Superman Escape once again.

Wild West Falls

The Wild West Falls refurbishment is also housing a lot of cladding and materials for Fright Night mazes.

Fright nights are little over a month away, so work is well underway.
